Positive: The Sanctuary absolutely lives up to its namesake: it is a total oasis on the island. From the moment we got picked up from the owner, we had a fabulous stay here, and wanted for nothing. The resort itself is beautiful, calm and clean, and the rooms are bright, airy and comfortable. The restaurant and bar is amazing, and we ate some of the best food of our trip to El Nido here (the shrimp tempura is a must!). The staff couldn’t be friendlier, and the owners (Jenna and Dean) make you right feel at home. Location-wise, you’re basically on a private beach - able to walk out of your room straight into the sea!We organised to have a private sunrise yoga lesson and went to a couple of local bars/ restaurants and massage parlours, but it’s a far cry from some of the overcrowded beaches elsewhere on the island. Couldn’t recommend a stay at the Sanctuary more, the only wish you’ll have when leaving is that you’d booked more time here!

What i realy loved about the The sanctuary is that it is situated on a beautiful beach close to the local fishing village. I loved ever minute of my stay there and would love to return one day.

Positive: Our stay was truly special – it felt more like visiting good friends than staying at a hotel. The host, Dean, is incredibly kind and welcoming, takes care of everything, and always tries to find a solution for any request. The place itself is beautiful and peacefully located away from the crowds, perfect for relaxing. The food was delicious, and both the hotel and the rooms were excellent.

Negative: The road to get there can be a bit bumpy, and the nearest beaches are a short ride away (e.g. by tuk-tuk), which can be a bit expensive. However, it’s still absolutely worth it.

Summary: A truly unique and heartwarming stay that felt more like visiting friends than staying at a hotel.

Positive: Staying at The Sanctuary is like paradise. The owners Dean and Jenna are amazing they realy care about their guests and treat you like one of the family. The staf are all wonderful. It is truly one of the most beautiful welcoming places i have ever stayed at. The Sanctuary is close to the local fishing village where you get a taste of realy fresh fish and the local people are all so friendly and kind. I hope one day to return .

Positive: Initially we were not sure of the booking but then we decided to give it a try. We took the chalet, and boy, THAT WAS WORTH! The views from the balcony, be it morning or evening, was so pretty. The room is very cozy, and there's great water pressure, and other facilities. And what's best, the beach is just outside the room. Walk 50 steps and you will be on the secluded bucana beach. It feels like a private beach with almost none to disturb you. A very special mention about the host, Dean. What a great guy, with great hospitality, extremely helpful and always happy to see us happy! He is always ready to accommodate any of your requests. He's always active in ensuring the quality of your stay. One understands how such a lovely passion built an intimate setting like The Sanctuary. The entire place is beautiful, and much like a home indeed. Sitting under the coconut trees, swinging, watching waves or reading books, it sure was very peaceful for us. We also enjoyed the food. The serving quantities were large, and very tasty. Shirley helped us with great suggestions according to our food preferences. Once again, thank you Dean and team for making our stay extra special!

Positive: A very welcoming owner Dean and his wife Jenna from the time we arrived until we left. Great accommodation and location on the beach. Food and hospitality first class, Rooms and beds very comfortable Dean and Jenna also organised a special presentation for my wife's birthday along with organising with arranging a special sea food platter dinner. They also made arrangements for transport for our day trips. They could not do enough for us to make our stay a great one.

Negative: Nothing really. If you want to be near El Nido then it is 45 mins away. The road is unmade getting to the resort can be a challenge on a scooter. The sanctuary however does offer 4x4 truck transfer.

Positive: I liked everything, the staff was incredible. The place was very cosy away from the busy and crowded town, a bit remote but that made it even more beautiful and peaceful. Everything you needed was already in the premises, a bar, restaurant, massage place, scooter rental, tours and transportation offered by the hotel for a fair price. Highly recommended and I'd say the photos are not doing justice, the place looks much better in reality.
